OK, so here are my EARLY Midwest Division Power Rankings.
I tried to go more in depth than previous years, so here's how I did it:
Each starter was compared across the board with the other four starters. So, the PGs were compared with each other, SGs, etc.
After the order of the position was determined, the slots were weighted. Each player was given points, and the total added up to ten (for example, Curry got 3 points, Billups and Mo Williams 2.5, Hill and Calderon 1 for a total of 10).
Here's what I got:
1. Oklahoma City 15.5 points
2. Cleveland 14.5
3. Denver 14
4. Minnesota 13
5. Chicago 3
BREAKDOWN: Easily the closest divisional race in the league. It is literally a toss up between the top 4. I wouldn't even try to predict a winner, because even the slightest of injuries could cause one of these teams to jump ahead/fall back. I have OKC at 1 right now, but Cleveland's bench is so much stronger, that the Cavs could end up running away with this division. Amazingly, Denver is just solid in every area. None of their starters stand out, but they are all under the radar good.
At face value, I would take the Cavs, even though my system spit out OKC as the favorites. Cleveland's bench is just that good. Denver, OKC, and Minnesota should battle it out for 2nd. One or two of those teams is going to get screwed out of a playoff spot. Chicago sucks.
Ultimately, it will come down to owners staying active and setting their lineups each day... as it always does.
