Wow. Not really surprised but just wow. Big move by who else but the Lakers, almost a forgotten team in all the Miami, Knick, Boston hoopla..
I did have a feeling he was headed to NY but that would've meant giving up Amare most likely.
discuss.

Fuck the NBA for blocking it. I don't even like LA, and was kind of pissed that they got him... but blocking the deal just pisses me off more.

I am so happy the NBA blocked this trade, its what the whole lockout was about. As a Houston fan, I could not believe they wanted to give away Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, and a draft pick for Pau Gasol. If they did Kevin Martin for Gasol straight up I would hesitate. This trade would make L.A., Miami, OKC, Boston, and Chicago contenders and force everyone else to just play against superteams. As a kind Golden State fan (live in the Bay Area) as was apalled when Paul might have landed here in exchange for Curry. Its just not the way to win and its not smart to punt on your future after preparing for it for five years. I think the league would be better if Miami, LA, and New York would be forced to leave the league. The NBA is broken, and the lockout didn't fix it. Also, if I'm Gasol, Odom, Martin, Scola, or Gragic, I'm betrayed. They will either play with a chip on their shoulder or have absolutely shattered confidence. I just hope this signals the end for LA.

Stern blocking this is not a good thing. New Orleans is doomed, and Stern is the that just flipped the switch.

This is nothing more than Stern sending a message to the league. He's still bitter about the lockout and now he is going to cripple the Hornets franchise. If they can't ship Paul out this year, they won't get anything for him. I don't care for the Lakers, but this trade was fair, justified, and worked out financially. Stern has become a dictator that is mismanaging this league worse than ever before.
