1. Brooklyn Nets
The Nets has a good foundation in K.Durant and a collection of bigs. G. Monroe is due for a breakout year while A.Bogut and J.Noah will be back healthy. L.Odom & T.Young add depth. Eyes will be on hopefuls J.Valanciunas and T.Robinson as they make their season debut. T.Lawson, S.Nash and A.Miller gives the Nets a mix of youth and experience at the PG spot. J.Harden is on his contract year so he’ll be very motivated to play. Always and still the top team in this division.
2. Toronto Raptors
In my opinion this team took a step back after losing K.Humphries, D.Granger, & N.Pekovic to free agency but the Raptors manage to trade for Josh Smith who could still form a solid frontline with D.Cousins & J.Thompson. The guard trio of I.Thomas, M.Conley, & M. Ellis is clutch. Weakness at the SF position will be a problem if Tobias Harris & Terrence Ross does not contribute. Overall, the Raptors is competitive but to equal last seasons’ performance is a big challenge.
3. Washington Wizards
Rajon Rondo & Javale McGee, these two guys can greatly help a team win assists & blocks category. What a luxury. Also with the Wizards are players P.George, N.Batum & T.Ariza, all three are capable of contributing several stats. Glen Davis could flourish in his new role but A.Jamison will have limited touches as a Lakers. J.Teague, G.Hill, & D.Wright are able backups but I think Wiz needs another good PF/C to better the chances of making the playoffs.
4. Boston Celtics
The key addition of Dwayne Wade & Stephen Curry is an excellent upgrade at the 1 & 2 spot. Holdover P.Millsap is a stud while newly acquired C.Kaman and B.Roy could be better this season. A couple of players to watch out for are N.Vucevic and D.Montiejunas. Both are in line for major minutes. L.Williams, C.Butler, G.Vasquez are contributors as they start with their respective teams. This will be a better season for the Celtics as long as key players stay healthy.
5. Charlotte Bobcats
On the bright side, Brook Lopez will be coming back after missing all but 5 games last season. D.Jordan still has flaws in his game so it’s hard to view him as reliable. PGs DJ.Augustin, R.Sessions, & K.Marshall are all reduced to backup roles IRL so there’s not much upside. Shooters Nick Young & Jeremy Lamb may see sufficient playing time but both are limited to just scoring points. B.Davis & S.Marion are in their twilight years. For the Bobcats it’s all about drafting Anthony Davis and they could be end up with another top pick for this season.
