We are really starting to see some equalisation now. Clearly, there are the perennial finalists. 4-6 standout franchises. The rest are making up ground and many matchups can go either way from week to week. A changing of the guard is on the horizon!! It is kind of wild to see the league even out. Last year, four teams won at least 14 games. This year, only one team will do that. And if scores hold this week, no one in the East will win more than 12 games.

A massive week 11 leads us to the final quarter of the season...
Houston (9-3) over Brooklyn (8-4), 4-4-1 The Rockets won based on the points tiebreaker, and they ended up winning by one assist. Many teams would look at this box score and say they lost on Sunday when they couldn't get one more assist, but it turns out the Nets actually lost this one on Saturday. About 6 minutes into the second quarter, Kyle Korver hit a three off a LeBron pass, but the bucket was inexplicably taken away three minutes later because officials determined on replay that Korver was out of bounds. No one even knew that was legal, but the assist was lost and the Nets lost a chance to all but clinch a playoff berth. The Rockets were led by Steph Curry who exploded back on the scene averaging 35-6-5 and knocked down 18 three pointers. The Rockets can lock up a playoff spot by beating the Timberwolves. The Nets head into a suddenly must-win showdown with the Cavaliers.
Las Vegas (6-6) over Chicago (6-6), 7-2 The Gamblers dealt a serious blow to the Bulls' playoff hopes with a win in week 11. The Bulls looked like a lock just a few weeks ago, but they were crushed by injuries. Their remaining schedule isn't particularly difficult, but the only tiebreaker they own is against the Raptors, and Toronto looks like the one East team they aren't likely to end up in a potential tie with. They get a Boston team also struggling with injuries. Kyrie Irving averaged 16-8-6 for the Gamblers, and Jusuf Nurkic put up 15-11-2, swiped 6 steals and blocked 3 shots. Las Vegas has won 4 of 5 to get back to .500 after a really rough start. Their next opponent is Portland.
Oklahoma City (1-11) over Boston (3-9), 6-3 The Thunder FINALLY got their first win of the season, led by Jimmy Butler and Aaron Gordon. The Thunder had a really rough first half of the season, but they've played better of late, and they're finally healthy. The Thunder get Seattle next, but then they face three playoff teams, so they have the chance to play spoiler at the end of the season. Boston gets the Bulls next, but they also face the Sonics and Kings, so they have a chance to pick up a couple of wins late.
Seattle (5-7) over Tampa Bay (2-9), 8-1 The Sonics cruised to win 5 on the year, taking out the Bull Sharks. Kris Dunn averaged 16-4-7 and Lauri Markkanen put up 17-8, propelling the Sonics to victory despite Lillard missing two games this week. Russell Westbrook has come around, averaging 25-9-11. The Sonics have a ton of young talent, and they'll have their own pick plus Boston's to add to it. They'll go up against the OKC Thunder, in search of a win streak, while the Bull Sharks get the Raptors.
Utah (8-4) over Washington (8-4), 6-2-1 The Jazz used a big Sunday to come from behind and beat the Wizards. The Jazz are 7-1 in their last 8 games, and they can officially clinch a playoff spot with a win this week over the Warriors and a Gamblers loss. LaMarcus Aldridge was a monster again, putting up 28-11, while Lou Williams put up 27-6. Giannis put up 29-9-6 for the Wizards, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Jazz in the end. The Wizards now fall into a three-way tie for first with the Raptors and the Nets, owning the tiebreaker against Toronto and not holding it against Brooklyn. The Wizards face a frisky Hawks team.
Memphis (12-0) over Cleveland (5-7), 7-2 The Grizzlies stayed undefeated in a closer than expected match-up with the Cavaliers. Memphis has been hit hard by injuries the last few weeks, but they've gotten through it and look to be on the other side. Avery Bradley, Victor Oladipo, Andre Iguodala, Joel Embiid and Al Horford are back on track (or look to be), and both Ibaka and Julius Randle have put up good numbers of late. Victor Oladipo will be the key for Memphis the rest of the season. His marked improvement over last year is a big reason this team has become darn near unbeatable. It will be interesting to see what happens with him in the off-season. He's gotten so good that the decision to keep him or Embiid is now a real thing. In the meantime, the Grizzlies will continue their march to the finals against Kansas City. Cleveland goes up against Brooklyn needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Toronto (8-4) over Minnesota (5-7), 6-3 After losing 3 of 4 the Raptors have now won 3 of their last 4, and they are back to even with the Nets. Their schedule is not nearly as difficult as Brooklyn's the last quarter of the season, so they have a pretty good shot at winning the division once again. DeMarcus Cousins only played two games, but he put up 21-13-3. Devin Booker is back, and he makes the Raptors incredibly dangerous. He didn't shoot it well from the floor, but he put up 24-4-6. The Raptors got some bad news with the reports that Reggie Jackson will likely be out until the conference finals, but help should be on the way. The Raptors get the Bull Sharks. Minnesota looked like they would be formidable down the stretch, but Blake Griffin got rocked on Sunday, and he could miss multiple weeks. Next up for them is Houston.
Golden State (6-6) over Orlando (6-6), 6-3 The Warriors were led by CJ McCollum, who put up 25-5-6. At full strength, the Warriors would be formidable, and with IT back, they were almost full strength for about three days. Then DeMarre Carroll got hurt, and that is up in the air. To add to the bad news, Paul Millsap is officially out until the conference finals, meaning he is unlikely to play another game in a Warriors uniform. The Warriors now face a must win game against Utah. Orlando missed a golden opportunity to separate themselves from Chicago in the race for the final playoff spot, and now they get a Colorado team fighting for their playoff lives.
Kansas City (5-7) over Colorado (5-7), 7-1-1 The Kings ended a three game losing streak, beating the Swannies despite Kevin Durant only playing one game. However, in that one game, Kevin Durant blocked 4 shots, boosting his season average to 2.3 blocks per game and making him a dark horse DPOY candidate. In somewhat random news, Courtney Lee hit all 10 of his free throws this week, boosting his league-leading average to 96%. He's now made 43 free throws in a row. The Kings will be the latest sacrificial lamb to the Grizzlies. Colorado was done in, in large part to the schedule. Myles Turner and Anthony Davis both only had two games this week, and Turner basically no showed a game. On the bright side for Colorado, those two will have four potential games in a must win match-up against Orlando.
Portland (9-3) over Atlanta (3-9), 8-1 The Hawks have now won 5 of 6 after crushing the Hawks. DeMar DeRozan is a dark horse MVP candidate, and he averaged 35-4-6 while dropping in 11 three-pointers. Portland is basically the killer D's with DeRozan, Draymond, DeAndre, Dragic and Dinwiddie. If the Blazers could get a little more out of Thaddeus, and if they get anything out of Mudiay, they could threaten Memphis. Of all the teams out of the playoff race, Atlanta has the best chance to play spoiler. They get Washington this week, Utah after that, then Colorado and Golden State.
Player of the Week: DeMar DeRozan, Portland Trailblazers- 35 pts/game, 6 asts/game, 4 rebs/game, 11 threes, 6 steals, 2 blocks, 56% FG, 93% FT Performance of the Week: LeBron James, Brooklyn Nets- 33/10/9/6/1 on January 6

The playoff picture is starting to take shape after an eventful week 13.
Boston (4-9) over Chicago (6-7), 6-3 Injuries have hampered the Bulls at the worst possible time, and it reared it's ugly head in their loss to the Celtics. Boston was led by rookie Bogdan Bogdanovic who averaged 17-4-3. In fact, it's looking more and more like Boston had the two best signings of the off-season, rookies Bogdanovic and Kyle Kuzma for the minimum for four years. Andre Drummond was a monster for Chicago, putting up 20-16-4-2-2, but it wasn't quite enough. Chicago's playoff hopes are on life support now, and they'll face Kansas City. Boston gets Seattle.
Brooklyn (9-4) over Cleveland (5-8), 6-3 The Nets clinched a playoff spot with a come from behind win over the Cavaliers. They were able to win despite an uninspired week from LeBron James. The good news is Hassan Whiteside seems to be ok, as he averaged a double-double and over three blocks per game. Jarrett Jack was the surprise of the week, putting up 19-9-5. For the Cavaliers, John Wall was a monster, averaging 29-12-4. The Cavaliers are now two back of the Magic with three to play, and without the tiebreaker, they'll need to win out and have the Magic lose out. It'll start against Minnesota this week. For Brooklyn, the Nets get Portland.
Orlando (7-6) over Colorado (5-8), 7-2 The Magic moved one step closer to the playoffs with a dominant performance against the Swannies. There wasn't one stand out player from the Magic, though Dwight Howard put up a double-double and almost three blocks a game (he did shoot 12/34 from the line though). The already thin Swannies were without Chriss, Stanley Johnson and Myles Turner. They more or less had no shot without those three. They'll try and rebound against Golden State. Orlando can clinch a spot with a win against Vegas (and a Bulls loss).
Toronto (9-4) over Tampa Bay (2-11), 6-3 Not a whole lot to talk about in this one. Toronto dominated almost from start to finish. They were led by DeMarcus Cousins, who is flying into the conversation for MVP and DPOY. He put up 22-13-5-2-2 and knocked down 9 three pointers. Devin Booker was solid, averaging 21-8-5. Russell Westbrook was a monster again for Tampa Bay, who are careening down the standings. Toronto may be 9-4, but their loss to Chicago means they aren't yet in the playoffs. They can officially clinch a spot against OKC. Tampa Bay gets Houston.
Washington (9-4) over Atlanta (3-10), 5-4 Up until Friday, it looked like Washington was going to get beat and fall squarely behind Toronto and Brooklyn in the race for first. Then the Wizards turned it on, and held off the Hawks in points and field goal percentage to get the win. The Wizards are now officially in the playoffs. They're reward is the Memphis Grizzlies. Atlanta gets yet another playoff team in Utah.
Portland (10-3) over Las Vegas (6-7), 6-2-1 Moving out West, Portland held onto the 2nd seed for another week, taking down the Gamblers. DeMar DeRozan might be sneaking his way into the MVP discussion after a monster week. He put up 29-6-4, and was helped by Spencer Dinwiddie (16-6-6) and Draymond Green (16-7-7). Vegas was limited in large part due to scheduling quirks, as both JJ Redick and Kyrie Irving only played one game this week. Portland goes up against the Nets, Las Vegas takes on Orlando.
Utah (9-4) over Golden State (6-7), 6-3 The Jazz officially clinched a playoff spot, and the four teams in the West are set. It's now a matter of seeding, and Utah will need some help to avoid the Grizzlies in the first round. Lou Williams continues to be unstoppable for the Jazz, he averaged 35 points per game and knocked down 21 three pointers. CJ McCollum did everything he could to keep the Warriors in it, putting up double figures in four categories. Utah goes up against Atlanta this week, while the Warriors take on Colorado.
Memphis (13-0) over Kansas City (5-8), 7-2 The Grizzlies are officially the top seed in the West. The Grizzlies were led by KAT, Oladipo and Beal. KAT averaged 20-12-4, Oladipo hit double figures in four categories, and Beal put up 25-6. If those three continue to do that, there's no stopping them. Durant put up 30 a game for KC, but that's about it. Memphis will attempt to stay unbeaten against Washington. Kansas City faces Chicago.
Houston (10-3) over Minnesota (5-8), 5-4 The Rockets kind of survived the Timberwolves this past week. Six players for the Rockets hit double figures in three categories, led by Jrue Holiday. Minnesota may be eliminated from the playoffs, but with a fully healthy roster, and no draft pick, they could be a pretty big spoiler the last three weeks. Houston will need to keep pace with Portland to stay ahead of the Jazz, and they get Tampa Bay. Minnesota goes up against Cleveland.
Seattle (6-7) over Oklahoma City (1-12), 6-3 The Thunder have been banged up all year, but now that they're healthy, they're feisty. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to take down Seattle. The Sonics were led by Damian Lillard and Kris Dunn, and with two lotto picks this year, the future looks very bright for this team. OKC gets Toronto and Seattle faces Boston.
Player of the Week: DeMarcus Cousins, Toronto Raptors- 22 pts/game, 13 rebs/game, 5 asts/ game, 9 steals, 9 blocks, 9 threes, 39% FG, 69% FT Performance of the Week: Nikola Jokic, Houston Rockets- 22/11/12/3/1 on January 8

Cool stuff : Seattle needs 2 rebounds or 12 points from T.J Leaf to win the matchup against me. Could be a huge win for them (Seattle has my pick this year). With my luck this season im pretty sure he'll get it done.

TJ Leaf doesn’t average close to either of them so it’s a bit of a toss up whether or not he’ll grab two boards

The playoff teams are set, all that's left is the seeding. The week 14 recap:
Kansas City (6-8) over Chicago (6-8), 6-3 The Bulls were officially eliminated with their loss to the Kings. After a solid start to the season, the injuries Chicago ran in to proved to be too much to overcome. Donovan Mitchell averaged over 24 points per game to keep the Bulls in it, but it wasn't enough to match Kevin Durant's 25-7-7. Something interesting happening in Kansas City: Courtney Lee hasn't missed a free throw since November 27th. He's missed only three all season. He's made 52 in a row, the longest active streak in the NBA. The Kings have a chance to impact playoff seeding next week against Houston. Chicago gets Tampa Bay.
Portland (11-3) over Brooklyn (9-5), 6-3 The Blazers continue to hold onto that 2nd seed in the West, winning a match-up that was never really close. Josh Richardson, DeMar, Spencer Dinwiddie, Dragic, Draymond and Eric Gordon all hit double figures in three categories. The Trailblazers are hitting their stride at the perfect time going into the playoffs. For Brooklyn, it's a little more of a mixed bag. Hassan Whiteside finally looks healthy and James Harden is back, but LeBron is in a funk. The Nets will need peak LeBron to make any noise. They'll get the Celtics. Portland faces OKC.
Toronto (10-4) over Oklahoma City (1-13), 7-2 The Raptors officially clinched their playoff spot, and, in doing so, also moved into first place alone in the Eastern Conference. DeMarcus Cousins continues his MVP campaign, putting up 20-13-5-2-1, though he didn't shoot it great from the field or line. OKC is finally healthy, but their young guys still aren't ready for the bright lights. That could change next season. For now, they'll go up against Portland. Toronto will try and maintain their standing atop the conference against Orlando.
Houston (11-3) over Tampa Bay (2-12), 7-2 A rather easy win for Houston, despite Russell Westbrook averaging a triple-double on the week. Steph Curry hit double figures in four categories for the Rockets, though they did get some tough news this week when it was announced Kawhi Leonard would be out indefinitely. It's tough to see how Houston makes it out of the West without Kawhi or Jabari, but we're still two weeks out from the postseason. Houston will take on Kansas City and Tampa Bay faces Chicago.
Memphis (14-0) over Washington (9-5), 8-1 The Grizzlies wiped the floor with the Wizards the same week that the two completed something of a blockbuster deal. It might be the first time we've seen players compete for both teams in a week. Washington got the best of Schroder while Memphis got the best of Batum. Joel Embiid was a monster for Memphis, averaging 30-13. He was a massive loss for this team in the playoffs last year, and healthy Embiid makes Memphis that much tougher when it matters. The Grizzlies look to stay unbeaten against Utah. Washington will get Cleveland.
Cleveland (6-8) over Minnesota (5-9), 7-2 Speaking of Cleveland, the Cavaliers got off the schneid in a big way, trouncing the Timberwolves. Klay Thompson averaged 27 a game and hit 10 threes, John Wall averaged 10 assists, and the Cavaliers were never really in danger. While neither team will make the playoffs, the season isn't over yet for either of these two, by any means. Both have players that could be available, and both have building blocks for the future. Cleveland will try and take out Washington. Minnesota goes up against Seattle.
Utah (10-4) over Atlanta (3-11), 7-2 LaMarcus Aldridge, Lou Williams and Kyle Lowry dominated for the Jazz in a match-up that wasn't really close. Lowry hit double figures in four categories, Aldridge averaged 21-11, and Lou Williams nabbed 11 steals (10 in one game). The Jazz have the pieces, it's just a matter of Mike Conley coming back in time for the playoffs. For Atlanta, they swung a trade for a 2018 first, moving Will Barton, so it appears they're ready to play for the future. They'll go up against Colorado. Utah takes on Memphis.
Orlando (8-6) over Las Vegas (6-8), 7-2 The Magic became the 8th and final team to clinch a playoff spot, making it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2013-14. Orlando is finally fully healthy, and they appear to be peaking. Dwight Howard continues to have a solid year, he averaged 18-16 and 3 blocks, but free throw shooting continues to be horrendous. There's still a chance for Orlando to climb the ladder in the East, and they'll have to beat Toronto this week to do it. Las Vegas will take on Golden State.
Golden State (7-7) over Colorado (5-9), 7-2 The Warriors won't be going to the playoffs this year, thanks mostly due to injuries. IT is back, however, and he's starting to show why the Warriors missed him so much during the regular season. Half of Colorado's roster was out injured, which is a shame because they are loaded with young talent. It's not out of the question that this team could have made the playoffs had they not suffered so many injuries. We'll see on both teams next season. For now, Colorado gets Atlanta. Golden State faces Las Vegas.
Boston (5-9) over Seattle (6-8), 4-4-1 Finally, in the closest match of the week, Boston barely held on to beat Seattle winning the points tiebreaker. New Celtic Wayne Ellington dropped in 16 three-pointers and 67 points, a big reason the team was able to scratch out their 5th win of the year. Damian Lillard led the way for Seattle, putting up 29-8-5 and hitting 13 threes. This could be an especially tough blow to Seattle as they own Boston's pick this year. The Sonics can further damage that pick's value against Brooklyn. Seattle will play Minnesota.
Player of the Week: Joel Embiid, Memphis Grizzlies- 30 pts/game, 13 rebs/game, 3 asts/game, 3 threes, 2 steals, 5 blocks, 54% FG, 82% FT Performance of the Week: Anthony Davis, Colorado Swannies- 45/16/2/2/1 on January 16

Just one more week left in season, and all that's left is seeding in the East.
Brooklyn (10-5) over Boston (5-10), 7-2 The Nets are suddenly in line for the top seed in the East if they win their last game against OKC. James Harden is fully back, and he averaged 25 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The Nets also made a number of moves in an effort to shore up their playoff rotation, adding DeMarre Carroll, Robert Covington and Courtney Lee in exchange for Juan Hernangomez, Mike Muscala and Jeremy Lamb. Clint Capela put up 12-10 for Boston. Boston gets Kansas City.
Portland (12-3) over Oklahoma City (1-14), 7-2 The Thunder are fully healthy and playing better, but it wasn't quite enough to take down Portland (though they came closer than most would have expected). Zach LaVine, Dejounte Murray, and Jamal Murray hit double digits in three categories. For Portland, Eric Gordon, Josh Richardson, DeMar DeRozan, and Draymond Green hit double digits in three categories. Portland is locked into the 2-3 match-up, and they can get the two seed with a win over Toronto. OKC gets Brooklyn.
Cleveland (7-8) over Washington (9-6), 7-2 The Wizards have been moving pieces and were hit by a tough Marcus Smart injury, but they're still going to the playoffs. However, if this game is a harbinger of things to come, it does not bode well for them. Giannis was a monster, putting up 34-11-7. The Cavaliers got surprisingly good weeks from Jerian Grant and Nikola Mirotic. It's a shame they went through so many injuries this season, as this Cavs roster is formidable. Next up is Seattle. Washington gets Houston.
Minnesota (6-9) over Seattle (6-9), 6-3 In a battle for lotto position, Minnesota took down Seattle. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin were monsters for the Wolves, hitting double digits in four categories and each recording 6 steals. Damian Lillard put up a big week for Seattle, but that was about it. Minnesota goes up against Tampa Bay. Seattle faces Cleveland.
Memphis (15-0) over Utah (10-5), 7-2 In a preview of one first round match-up, Memphis got the best of Utah. These two teams faced off in the 1-4 match-up last season, in the same roles, and Utah pulled the upset. It doesn't look as likely this year, considering Utah is the one suffering from the serious injury, and Memphis has really bolstered their roster. Paul George hit double figures in FIVE categories for Memphis. For Utah, Lou Williams averaged 25-7. Memphis can finish the regular season undefeated with a win over Orlando. Utah will get Chicago.
Colorado (6-9) over Atlanta (3-12), 5-4 In the closest match-up of the week, Colorado held on to beat Atlanta by one steal. Anthony Davis was a beast, averaging 26-11-5 and racking up 7 steals and 9 blocks. Ben Simmons was really good for Atlanta, but they were hit by injuries and absences at the worst time. The Hawks finish the season against Golden State. Colorado will take on Las Vegas.
Orlando (9-6) over Toronto (10-5), 6-3 The Magic beat Toronto, only adding insult to injury. Toronto received devastating news as DeMarcus Cousins tore his achilles and is out for the year. It was a massive blow, really, to everyone as Cousins had been playing historically well. On a personal note, I'm a huge Boogie fan, and I can't remember an injury that depressed me more than this one. He's been such a great player who's gotten the short end of the stick far too often. I hope against hope that he can come back 100% next season. Meanwhile, Toronto will have to go up against Portland. Orlando has been playing incredibly well, and it looks likely they'll get Brooklyn in the first round since they play Memphis this week. Dwight Howard was unbelievably putting up 18-16 and racking up 20 blocks.
Houston (12-3) over Kansas City (6-9), 6-3 Not a whole lot to this one. The Rockets whooped up on Kansas City behind big weeks from Steph Curry, Jrue Holiday and Nikola Jokic. Kemba Walker was really good, but Kansas City just wasn't deep enough to keep up with the Rockets. Houston will play Portland in the playoffs, but before that, they'll wrap up the season against Washington. Kansas City faces Boston.
Chicago (7-8) over Tampa Bay (2-12), 6-3 Pretty much the same thing here as the Houston/KC game. Tampa Bay did not have the depth to stay with Chicago, despite Russ putting up HUGE numbers. Andre Drummond had one of the best games you'll see all season putting up 30-24-4-3-6. Chicago takes on Utah. Tampa Bay goes up against Minnesota.
Golden State (8-7) over Las Vegas (6-9), 5-4 Another case of depth winning out as Golden State held off the Gamblers. Dario Saric averaged 18-8 and hit 12 threes for the Gamblers. Vegas had five players hit double digits in two categories, and those are the only players that actually played. Vegas wraps up the year against Colorado. Golden State faces Atlanta.
Player of the Week: Anthony Davis, Colorado Swannies- 26 pts/game, 11 rebs/game, 5 asts/game, 7 steals, 9 blocks, 50% FG, 81.8% FT Performance of the Week: DeMarcus Cousins, Toronto Raptors- 44/23/10/4/1 on January 22
