Hey everyone,
For this coming season, I'm thinking of moving away from the weekly recaps that I've been doing the past two seasons and instead doing a weekly power ranking. While the recaps are a fun way to provide a narrative to matchups, and hopefully everyone enjoys reading them, they don't really do a good job (in my opinion) of showing where things stand week to week. Power rankings, on the other hand, are great at showing progression/regression, and we can keep historical records of those rankings, allowing people to go back at any point in the season to see how the season was shaking out.
Why am I bringing this up now? Because I would like some help in putting these weekly power rankings together. I am looking for four owners, any four, that would be willing to put together a weekly ranking. In addition, each owner (including myself) would be assigned 4 teams to "track" throughout the year. I wouldn't be looking for a 2,000-word breakdown of those teams each week, just 3-4 sentences on their match-up the past week, who they have coming up, and maybe something to keep an eye on. The way ESPN does their power rankings is more or less exactly what I'm looking to do (an example can be found here).
Right now I'm thinking that owners that are a part of this committee would submit their rankings by the end of the day Monday to me, and I will post them every Tuesday morning. I will do an off-season ranking at some point before we open up the off-season, with the goal to have a committee in place by August. That way we can do a pre-season (post-free agency) power ranking.
This is just for fun, so if at any point you don't feel you have the time to continue doing these, just let me know. The only thing I would ask is that, if you do have to step back after joining, you at least stay on until a replacement can be found.
If you are interested, please post in this thread that you would like to participate. Everyone here is a pro, so it will be first come, first serve. I think this could be a really fun idea that really adds value to this league, so I'm looking forward to getting this rolling.
