I believe 4 teams will make the playoffs out of this division. That's how good the division is.

I like the "you can't really rate the division by this. I have used it before and gotten pretty damn close. Because each position produces certain cats better it helps the ranking to break it down like that.

OK, so here are my EARLY Pacific Division Power Rankings.
I tried to go more in depth than previous years, so here's how I did it:
Each starter was compared across the board with the other four starters. So, the PGs were compared with each other, SGs, etc.
After the order of the position was determined, the slots were weighted. Each player was given points, and the total added up to ten (for example, D-Will got 2.5 points, Kidd, Harris, and Rondo got 2, and Lou Will 1.5 for a total of 10).
Here's what I got:
1. Portland 14.5 points 2. Utah 13.5 3. Las Vegas 12.5 4. Golden State 11 5. Seattle 8.5
BREAKDOWN: As with the Midwest, this is another toss up. I cannot stress enough just how close this is. I mean, the numbers spit out Golden State as 4th, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them win the division. Right now, I will agree with the numbers and say Portland and Utah will be fighting for 1st. I think Golden State and Vegas are right there, but it will be a long shot for Vegas to win. Seattle is hurt by the number of question marks. Will Oden stay healthy? How will Blake Griffin perform? Will Turkoglu flourish in PHX? Right now, their bench is also a complete mystery. They could either flop and finish last, or everyone could live up to their potential, and they could finish first. Who knows?
At face value, I'm going with Portland. Kidd and Murphy continue to get underrated as a fantasy players, and Amar'e going to a system he knows will be great for him... I think Utah could take out Portland for first, and while Golden State has improved a lot, I'm just not sure about them. However, I will say those three make the playoffs.
Ultimately, it will come down to owners staying active and setting their lineups each day... as it always does.
