FREE AGENCY
1. Free agency will begin following the completion of the draft. The date will be determined on a year-to-year basis.
2. A list of free agents can be found on our ESPN site. It is far easier to keep track of eligible free agents this way.
3. To bid on a free agent, create a post in the Free Agency board with the player's name as the title.
4. A team has 30 minutes to withdraw a bid. If the bid is withdrawn in this time frame, it is treated as if it never happened.
5. If a bid is not withdrawn, it is treated as a cap hold. This means that the leading bidder must account for that salary when bidding on other players. If a potential bid puts a team over the salary cap, the bid is invalid.
6. If a potential bid puts you over the roster limit, it is invalid.
7. The maximum number of years a free agent can be signed for is 4. The minimum is 1. There are no option years for free agents.
8. The minimum salary is $250,000. There is no maximum.
9. Points are as follows: 1 point per $1,000,000. 0.5 point per year. An offer of $1,000,000 for 1 year = 1.5 points.
10. You MUST include the point total of your bid for it to be considered valid. If the point total does not match up with the offer, the bid is invalid.
11. The minimum bid increase is 0.2 points. There is no maximum.
12. Free agency closes at the end of the regular season. Any playoff team wishing to sign a free agency must submit a waiver to the commissioner for review.
13. Any player signed in the off-season may not be traded or waived during the first30 days 15 days of the regular season. (RULE CHANGE - JUNE 2021)
14. Any player signed after the season starts may not be traded or waived for30 days 15 days after their signing date. (RULE CHANGE - JUNE 2021)
15. If a bid puts a team over the roster limit, they must state explicitly who will be waived in their bid post. If that team wins said free agent, that player is not eligible to play until the player currently on their roster has been removed.
16. If a team has the highest bid after 24 hours, they win that free agent. The clock resets with each bid.
17. Emergency FA signings: Playoff teams are allowed to make one (1) free agent signing during the playoffs IF at least two players on their current roster have suffered injuries that will keep them out through the duration of the playoffs. Any signing made by a playoff team will be limited to just the rest of the year (no multi-year contracts will be allowed), and that team may not trade them during the next off-season, nor may they be allowed to use a re-sign on that player. D-League offers will not be allowed. This rule change will go into effect with the 2023-2024 playoffs (RULE CHANGE - AUGUST 2023)
