Some interesting tidbits... -3 Finals rematches are in play: Brooklyn/Utah (2013/2014), Tampa Bay/Utah (2012), Tampa Bay/Golden St. (2022) -The Warriors currently have a 5 game playoff unbeaten streak dating back to their 2022 title (no playoffs in 2023). Longest playoff win streaks: - 8 - 2018-2020 Brooklyn Nets
- 7 - 2015-16 Tampa Bay Bull Sharks
- 7 - 2013-14 Brooklyn Nets
- 5 - 2010-11 Atlanta Hawks
-If the Warriors win the Finals, and beat the Nets in the process, they'll be just the second franchise to win two titles against completely unique opponents. Only the Brooklyn Nets have accomplished that (beating Tampa, Houston, and Utah in 2013, then Orlando, Washington, and Portland in 2018). -The Nets and Bull Sharks will be attempting to give the East a second consecutive title. If they accomplish that, it will mean that the East will have won multiple titles following every Western Conference title (the East won 5 straight following OKC's 2011 win and 3 straight following Houston's 2017 win).

We’re not even three days in, and I think the conference finals are done.

CONFERENCE FINALS UPDATE
Brooklyn Nets (#1) lead Tampa Bay Bull Sharks (#3), 6-3 With one week to go, somehow, someway, the Brooklyn Nets are clinging to a 6-3 lead on the Tampa Bay Bull Sharks. At one point on Thursday, half the players on the Nets roster were out injured or sick. The Nets projected to have a sizable games played advantage through the opening week, with the Bull Sharks making up that ground in the second week. Instead, we are basically at a dead heat in minutes played through one week. The Bull Sharks appear to have turnovers locked up, while Brooklyn has a comfortable lead in free throw shooting. Everything else might be fair game, though blocks and field goal percentage project to go towards Brooklyn and Tampa, respectively. Right now, the Bull Sharks have a 5-game advantage in the second week, but that can change depending on the statuses of Coby White, Ausar Thompson, Evan Mobley, and Vince Williams, which is a pretty funny thing to type and read aloud. That advantage can also change if Deni Avdija can't make it back from a knee contusion. He hurt his knee at the end of their game on Thursday, and after initially being listed available Saturday, he was a late scratch right before tip. He was then ruled out early on Sunday, a situation that does not raise hopes for a speedy return (there's just a whiff of tankitis coming from Washington...). On the bright side for Tampa, it does look like Mike Conley is going to play both ends of their back-to-back, which is a shocker given how they've handled him in the past. It's also a huge boost to Tampa considering Conley scored 25 and 23 points the last two games, which are actually the first two games all season he's cracked 20 points. It's also the most points he's scored in back-to-back games since October 31 and November 2nd of 2021. Can Wemby and the kids hang on? We'll find out over the next 7 days.
Golden St. Warriors (#5) lead Utah Jazz (#2), 6-3 The Warriors have a minutes advantage of 120, and it shows in this one. They lead comfortably in free throws, assists, and steals. Everything else, though, is up for grabs, and Utah will be holding out hope that Lauri Markkanen, finally, makes his return. If Lauri is back, these two project to have an even number of games played, with the Warriors probably feeling a bit better about that considering Booker, Ivey, McConnell, Siakam, and Toppin all have four games on the schedule. The only player that has really stepped up defensively for the Warriors is Brandon Miller. The rookie has 7 steals, with the next closest on the team swiping 4. The Warriors have four players that have picked up more than 4 steals: Tre Jones (8), Siakam (7), McConnell (5), Fred VanVleet (5). VanVleet also had a crazy 16-assist game to close out the first week. It's been a series of all-around performances for this Warriors team. Devin Booker put up 23-6-8, Vooch averaged 18-9-3, Siakam had 21-10-4, and FVV was at 20-5-11. Buddy Hield continues to disappoint for Utah (11-2-3), but the Jazz are still alive, and a great second week can change the tenor the series. The bottomline is, while both of these series looked like they might be over after the first few days, they are both still very much up for grabs. It's going to be an intense final week.
And on a personal note, baby #3 will be arriving at some point tonight or tomorrow, so there will likely be a delay in getting Finals stuff posted. These series still being close has certainly not helped in prepping things in advance. I will keep you all posted.

Unless Mobley and Thompson make Willis Reedesque returns on Wednesday, I’m just not going to have enough to hang on.

Tampa and I limping to the finish line this week. You’ll probably end up winning boards. I may get threes. It’ll be close

I’m guessing threes are off the table for me. Probably need 90 boards to pull that one out
