It was discussed some last year, and I would like to move forward with the idea of a re-sign committee. So here's how I see it working...
-5 full-time members with 1 floater
-The 5 full-time members will determine if a re-sign attempt is successful. If a member of the committee has one of their players up for re-sign, then they will have to recuse themselves and the floater will fill in
-Rather than make it a race to three votes the way it currently is, the group will discuss each bid in their own "room" and all five members will vote
-A re-sign bid will still need 3 yes votes to pass
-The committee shall be made up of 4 non-mods and 2 mods; 1 mod will be REQUIRED to be in the floater spot (i.e. we cannot have two mods on the committee full-time)
-The re-sign attempt will be posted both publicly (in the normal free agency forum) and privately (in the committee lounge)
-I WILL NOT BE ON THIS COMMITTEE; what this means is, when a team makes a re-sign attempt, they will need to message the attempt to the head of the re-sign committee so that they may post it in their lounge
-If a manager forgets to email the head of the committee, then the head may copy and paste the public post
-Standard re-sign rules will still apply (i.e. three attempts, same point amounts, contract lengths allowable, etc.)
Initially, I'd wanted five non-mods with a mod floater, but given how so many of us have been mods at one point or another (and that some of our non-mods aren't as active on proboards), I figured we didn't have to be that strict. To this point, I have the following positions filled:
RE-SIGN COMMITTEE
1. crossover (Golden St. GM)
2. fernans (MIAMI HEAT)
3. MemphisGM
4. moltreszwarriors
5. Kots (Colorado GM)
6. Tampa Bay Bull Sharks (floater)
If you are interested, please either message me or post in this thread (and Kots (Colorado GM) if things have changed and you can no longer do this, let me know). Once we have the five spots filled, we'll figure out who is the head of the committee and who is the floater. That will be announced to the group (though we'll probably just hash it out in this thread). If you're not sure if you have the time for this, but you're interested, consider that the re-sign period is only two weeks of your time (July 15th - July 31st), and it's not something that requires around the clock attention. We do have a little bit of time, so it's not as if we need spots filled this week, but I would like to have the committee in place before we open the off-season.
