Probably too late I think ... Westbrook, Bones Hyland & Bryant all traded elsewhere! Usually they miss a game or two waiting on medicals, etc 🤬

Checking in on these match-ups at the all-star break...
-Colorado/Phoenix has been the match-up of the playoffs so far, with Colorado currently leading the tiebreaker by just 44 points. Phoenix got some bad news with the loss of Anfernee Simons, though they could get OG Anunoby back for the rest of this one next week.
-Houston jumped out to a big lead early on Portland, but the Blazers have slowly clawed back into this one. Threes do look like they're out of reach, which is not a surprise given Houston's dominance in that category all year. However, rebounds being a major advantage for Houston was something I'm not sure many saw coming (Dame grabbing 16 boards in two games will help that out lol).
-New York currently leads Miami, but this is absolutely anyone's ball game. Some late scratches due to rest have impacted both teams, which can be frustrating. Markelle Fultz has been the fun surprise for NY thus far, averaging 19-8-7 on 50% shooting in two games. If he plays like that, the Knicks will be hard to beat.
-The Raptors lead TB 6-2-1, but their margins in FG%, boards, turnovers, and points are razor thin. The Bull Sharks have been relatively healthy, though KAT is confirmed out through this series, and they have a very minor edge in minutes. The shooting of Jalen Green and Ja Morant has really hurt Toronto to this point (17/56 = 30%). Malaki Branham making a late case for rookie of the year for the Bull Sharks. He's shooting 72% through two games in this series.

The week long all-star break is always a buzzkill for our playoffs lol schedule may not always work out that way but maybe extend play in those couple days and first round starts after all star break?

The week long all-star break is always a buzzkill for our playoffs lol schedule may not always work out that way but maybe extend play in those couple days and first round starts after all star break? Problem is ESPN doesn't allow for us to adjust the schedule in that way. It's too specific. They used to let us split up the all-star break into it's own week, but they removed that option when the all-star break was extended. I don't know why they won't go back to it, but it is what it is.

We have one week to go, and all four match-ups are still in play. I honestly can't remember the last time that happened. Here's where we stand...
Portland leads Houston, 5-3-1 What a wild one we've got brewing between the top seed in the West and 4th seed. Houston jumped out to big leads early, but Portland has walked them down to take the lead with 7 days left. Portland should get KD back on Wednesday, which should be a boon even if he's on a minutes limit. Houston has had a minutes advantage of nearly 100 minutes, but they will continue to be without Curry and Zion, and Wiggins is suddenly absent as well. Still, they've gotten some remarkable individual performances to keep them afloat, including SEVENTY-ONE POINTS from Damian Lillard on Sunday (he also hit 13 threes, no biggie). Houston is projected to have the games played advantage this week (39-36), but who knows if that will hold true. Dame and Randle have four games each on the week. Same for PG and Bridges for Portland. If we had to guess, we'd say only threes are safely on either team's side at this point. This is going to be nip and tuck all week.
Colorado leads Phoenix, 6-3 The Swannies have looked fantastic in their first playoff appearance in over a decade. In fact, they lead all playoff teams in points, rebounds, steals, and assists (and only trail NYK by 1 block). That said, boards and steals are still very much in play in this one, which is why we can't pencil anyone into the next round just yet. Colorado has had a pretty sizable minutes advantage, but Phoenix is projected to play more games this week (41-39). Nikola Jokic is doing his part for the Suns (24-15-9 on 69%(!) shooting), but he's going to need some more help. The Swannies might be seeing star turns for both Darius Garland and LaMelo Ball in this postseason. Ball has averaged 27-9-11.5 so far, while knocking down 21 threes. Garland has averaged 23-6 on 53/89 splits. Colorado also has to be thrilled with the production they're getting out of Hayward, Collins, and Giddey. And we have to mention AD's 22-14 average with 10 total blocks. If Colorado can make it out of this round, they'll be scary.... as will Phoenix, since defeating Colorado would be a real statement victory.
New York leads Miami, 5-4 This one could come down to field goal percentage, which is surely triggering some PTSD in the Knicks (go back and look at their 2019 match-up with the Bull Sharks). It's been a dead heat from a minutes played standpoint, but NY should have the edge this week (42 games to 38), but who knows with all their injury concerns. How is Miami doing it? How are the Heat sticking in this match-up despite Embiid averaging 30/13/5/1/2.5 and knocking down 47/53 free throws? Well, Tim Hardaway and Tyler Herro have combined for 19 threes. Wendell Carter and Jabari Smith have each pulled down 38 rebounds, and Jarrett Allen has 51. Chris Paul and Bogdan Bogdanovic have combined for 13 steals. Can they keep it up? Can they continue to get the deep bench production they'll need to pull off the upset? We'll find out soon enough.
Tampa Bay leads Toronto, 6-3 Well, well, well, if it isn't the ol' reliable Bull Sharks. They looked dead in the water (no pun intended) heading into the postseason, but here they are showing the upstart Raptors a thing or two about winning in the playoffs. This one is all about the minutes, and Tampa Bay has played over 200 more than Toronto. In fact, only nine players for Toronto have even seen the floor. It's a bizarre quirk in scheduling that will not continue this week; TB is projected to play 43 games to Toronto's 48. Will it be enough to overcome the deficits? Honestly, it could be. Points, rebounds, and field goal percentage are still toss-ups. However, if Zach LaVine keeps playing like this (27.6-6-4), Tampa should feel pretty good. The bottom line for Toronto is they need more from Ja. 19-6-6 on 33% shooting is simply not good enough in the playoffs. They cannot win with him playing this poorly. Haliburton and Keldon Johnson have held up their end of the bargain, so Ja has four games to get this team to the conference finals.
