WAIVERS1. If you wish to release someone, you must first create a topic placing them on waivers in the waiver thread. 2. Once they are on waivers for a 24 hour period, and they are not claimed by any other team, the player will be released and put in the free agent market. 2b. Teams may not bid on players they have waived for 15 days. If a player they have waived is not picked up in those 15 days, then the waiving team may bid on them ( RULE CHANGE - JUNE 2021) 3. Once released you will take a 75% cap hit for the remaining years on the respected players contract. 4. If a player is claimed off waivers by another team, the winning team takes on the entire salary. The waiving team will have no cap hit. 5. The waiver priority list will be the reverse order of the previous years standings to start the season. Per rule change approved in June, 2021, the waiver priority order will reset at the quarter (after 4 weeks), half (after 8 weeks), and three-quarters (after 12 weeks) marks of the season. Teams that have claimed someone off waivers will not be part of reset. ( RULE CHANGE - JUNE 2021) 6. You are on the hook for any player you waive, regardless of the circumstances. If a player retires, goes to Europe, goes to jail, or simply disappears off the face of the Earth, and you decide to waive them, you will pay the 75% cap hit.

ADDED JULY, 2018: BUYOUTSAny player signed for a minimum of 2 seasons may be bought out for any reason at 60% of the player's TOTAL contract. The team would incur a one-time hit, that would expire at the end of the season. Teams may not buy out players after week 12 of the regular season. Any player that is bought out will be ineligible to be claimed via the waiver process. Opposing teams must still wait a minimum of 24 hours before placing a free agency bid on a recently bought out player. Teams may not bid on a player they have bought out for at least 15 days following the buy out. Teams will be limited to 3 buyouts every 5 years. The 5-year cycle will start in the summer of 2020, and run concurrently to the re-sign period (2020-2024). There will be a one-year, experimental phase, that will allow every team to use 1 buyout in the 2019-2020 season. Link to vote: miege.proboards.com/thread/4484/potential-rule-addition-buyout-clause
